Yala Peak Climbing is a beginner friendly trek north of Kathmandu Valley. This expedition entails strolling through the deep forest and many traditional towns in the Langtang area. It is one of Nepal’s simplest peak climbs requiring no technical expertise.
Yala Peak expedition, combined with Langtang Valley Trek in Nepal , is the most incredible option for people who want to stand on a Himalayan summit but have limited resources and time.
The trip to Yala Peak begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. After staying a day here, trekking to Langtang begins following a trek to Kyanjin, where you can enjoy the panoramic views of ice-capped Himalayan peaks. The walk continues to the base camp, where you will stay for acclimatization. Then, finally, you will hike up to the Yala Peak.
Unlike the more frequented destinations of Everest or Annapurna, Langtang Valley remains a relatively undiscovered gem, attracting fewer tourists. Stretching up to the Tibet border, this valley provides a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in a culture strongly shaped by Tibetan heritage and geographical proximity.
To the north, Langtang Valley is framed by peaks soaring to approximately 6500m, while a smaller range of 5000-6000m graces the southern horizon, with Yala Peak situated within the northern expanse.

Food and Accommodation at Yala Peak Climbing
Accommodation on the trek, both before and after the climb of Yala Peak, is in nice lodges maintained by local families, unless traveler mention a preference for tents. Each lodge features a central communal area with a stove, while the bedrooms are unheated and have two beds and mattresses, as well as a blanket and pillows. You must bring your own sleeping bag. The showers are normally powered by gas, and some employ the iconic ‘drop’ toilets, but most now have flush systems.
The food served on the trek is of excellent quality and a blend of native Nepali and western dishes. Local Dal Bhat or Momos are wonderful choices, while burgers and chips are also popular. Everything from beer to batteries to Mars bars is available in the trail’s lodges and small businesses

What is permit cost for Yala Peak?
While Yala Peak Climbing used to only be permitted with permission, the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has removed it from the list because it is just 5732 meters high. It just requires a Langtang National Park entrance permit, which costs NPR 3000 per person, and a group TIMS Card, which costs NPR 2000 per person and can only be purchased from a licensed trekking company.
