Annapurna Trek via Poon Hill Overview

Located right in the middle of the Nepalese Himalayas, the Annapurna region boasts some of Nepal’s most popular trekking routes.

The Annapurna Trek (clockwise) via Poon Hill is a famous and breathtakingly beautiful trekking trail in the Annapurna region in Nepal. This specific trek takes a clockwise route and passes through some of the most breathtaking landscapes and cultural attractions, along with a stop at the well-known Poon Hill viewpoint.

Annapurna Trek is one of the most admirable treks that offers the most beautiful natural scenery. You will be captivated by the lush greenery, flora and fauna, the rivers and lakes, glaciers and waterfalls and the traditional lifestyle of the local ethnic groups.  The temples and monasteries, the hills and mountains, the passes and gorges, and the numerous suspension bridges that cross the Kali Gandaki and other numerous rivers are some of the major attractions of this trek.

The clockwise Annapurna Trek goes through Ghorepani Poon HIll route which is considered as one of the easiest trekking trails in the Annapurna  region.  This trek combines the Annapurna trek with Poonhill trek which will take you to different landscapes with amazing views and unique culture along the trail.

Best Season for Annapurna Trek Clockwise

The Autumn season which falls during the month of October to November is considered the best season for Annapurna trek. This is the time of the ending of summer and beginning of the winter season. The temperature at the trekking trail is mild which highlights its beauty to fullest with a clear and blue sky, mountain ranges and vibrant greenery.

Annapurna Trek Clockwise Route

The Annapurna Poon Hill walk is a moderate and easy hike in the Annapurna region. The trek begins from a flight to Pokhara where you will trek to Nayapul after landing at the airport. The trek continues to Hile, Banthali, Ghorepani and finally to the Australian Camp. The trek will come to an end at Pokhara where you can either spend a night there or return to Kathmandu via plane.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1. Fly Kathmandu → Pokhara

Drive to trek starting point, Nayapul (max. 2 hours drive). Your guide will accompany you from Kathmandu.

Day 2. Trek Nayapul → Hile – approx. 4-5 hours / 9km

Spend the night in a mountain lodge or enjoy camping-style accommodation.

Day 3. Trek Hile → Banthali (walking)

Day 4. Trek Banthali → Ghorepani (walking) – 4 to 5 hrs

Day 5. Exploration day.

Get up early for a sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210m) and then return to Ghorepani. Enjoy exploring the village and surrounding forest – a great and energising source of oxygen.

Day 6. Trek Ghorepani → Tadapani

Rhododendron Forest – sightseeing

Day 7. Trek Tadapani → Landruk

Have lunch in Landruk. Take in excellent views of Annapurna 1.

Day 8. Trek Landruk → Deurali (walking) – 5 hrs

Night Stay

Day 9. Trek Deurali → Australian Camp (Walking) – 4hrs

Night Stay

Day 10. Trek Australian Camp → Dhampus → Phedi

Lunch stop in Phedi. Drive → Pokhara and spend the night.

Day 11. Fly Pokhara → Kathmandu.

Either spend the night in Pokhara, or return to Kathmandu by plane.
