Naya Kanga Peak Climbing Overview
Naya Kanga Peak, also known as Ganja La Chuli, is a trekking peak in Nepal’s less well-known yet extremely spectacular Langtang region. Naya Kanga Peak is one of the safest peaks for beginner climbers to try their climbing skills with our expert climbing guides. The climb to the spectacular ridged summit of Naya Kanga is graded slightly due to significant snow slopes that give the challenges of a typical alpine endeavor.
The Naya Kanga Peak Climbing adventure takes you through Tibetan-influenced communities in Langtang, home to a diverse collection of wildlife. The Naya Kanga Peak Climbing is a superb alternative for trekkers and mountaineers, with a bit of Tibetan culture, a pinch of floral and faunal richness, and a lot of Himalayan presence.
The mountain, which rises to a height of 5,844 meters, has been classified as a non-technical climb that requires an average degree of fitness to reach the top. The trail follows the well-known Langtang Valley, where one may take in the stunning views of the Tibetan summits Shishapangma (8,064m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), Yala Peak (5,500m), Pemathang Ri (6,836m), Langtang Lirung (7,425m), Langshisha Ri (6,370m), and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m).
Along with breathtaking scenery, the trail offers a unique opportunity to discover culture. The area is rich in Buddhist-Tibetan culture, and various old gompas and monasteries, including Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), bless thousands of trekkers each year.
Naya Kanga Peak Climbing Route
After a breathtaking 9-hour trip from Kathmandu, our Naya Kanga Peak Trekking path begins in Syabrubesi, 1505 meters above sea level. The trail follows the valley of Langtang. The trail leads to the old Buddhist monastery at Kyanjing Gompa. Near Kyanjing, two peaks are excellent for acclimatization. We will climb Kyangjin Ri (4350m) or Tsergo Ri (4983m) and take in more breathtaking vistas, depending on our energy levels.
The trail to Naya Kanga Peak leads south from Kyangjin Gompa to Nyengang Kharka, where we set base camp. The uphill climb begins at Camp 1. Below the summit ridge, the snow and ice slopes can be 50 degrees steep. We celebrate our accomplishment on the peak before beginning the ascent back to base camp.
Best Season For Naya Kanga Peak Climbing
The best time for Naya Kanga Peak climbing is in the spring, from March to May, and in the fall, from September to November. But if you are well-equipped for the cold weather, climbing is also an ideal time in the winter. The vistas of the Alps are crystal clear, and there are fewer people in the crisp, chilly month of December.
See snow-capped peaks including Langtang Lirung (7,245m), Langtang Ri (6,370m), Dorje Lakpa (6,990m), Langshisha Ri (6,427m) and Ganchempo (6,387m), which is also called the ‘fluted peak’ for this beautiful symmetrical lines.
Stay in the charming village of Kyanjin Gompa (3,860m) with its yak cheese factory, one of its kind in the himalayas. If you want to go higher, then day hikes to Kyanjin Ri (4773m) or Tserko Ri (4984m) can be done.
From March to May you can see Nepal’s national flower, the rhododendron, in bloom at lower altitudes. Stop to marvel as you go through forests of red, white and pink flowers en route to your next destination.
