NAYA KHANGA PEAK

First peak conquered by the Japanese along with the founder of rolwaling

EX#509.

Trip Overview

The Langtang National Park lies in the north-central Himalayas of Nepal, bordering China’s Tibet autonomous region. A 120 km drive from Kathmandu, the park is home to around 4,500 inhabitants and a variety of plant and animal species. With subtropical bamboo forests at lower altitudes that ascend into alpine meadows where yaks graze, and pine forests interspersed with waterfalls, you’ll see a wide range of landscapes on this trek.
If you’re lucky you might catch sight of a Himalayan black bear, the elusive red panda or even a snow leopard. More likely are sightings of deer, gentle langur monkeys, or one of the 250 bird species of the park. In addition, you can see the blue poppy flower that is only found in the Langtang region in June and July.
For those interested in getting a taste of more adventurous alpine activity – beginners and experienced climbers alike – nearby peaks such as Yala Peak are our recommendation for a hassle-free climbing experience.
But besides wildlife and stunning views, the Langtang region is home to incredibly warm and welcoming people.
